PONSSE Awarded Red Dot Product Design For Scorpion Cabin

Ponsse Scorpion's new Future Cabin

Ponsse Scorpion’s new Future Cabin cockpit, launched in February, has won the product design award in the internationally acclaimed Red Dot design competition. The win came in the product design category with the highest Best of the Best award for innovative design in the cockpit. The prize is the highest achievable prize in the competition, awarded to the best products in the prize categories.

In February, Ponsse launched a comprehensively modernized Scorpion harvester collection that meets all the requirements of modern forest management. Scorpion is characterized by its visibility and maneuverability. One of the most visible changes is the new one-part front window, which reaches the roof of the cab, providing even better visibility and safe working in all kinds of conditions. In addition, the unique crane solution offers excellent visibility in all directions. The new Scorpion takes logging productivity and ergonomics to an even better level, setting a new standard for the driver’s working environment.

“The starting point for the development of the new Scorpion cockpit was once again the driver of the forest machine and the feedback received from them. This debate is extremely important to us and we are constantly doing it as part of everyday work. The cockpit workspace, for which this fine prize was also won, has been adapted to be more practical, and the quiet landscape office has been developed specifically for the comfort and coping of the drivers. The driver’s coping plays a key role in the productive work of the machine. It’s really great that the cockpit also received such a prestigious award for innovative design. Thanks for this award belong to both our customers, partners and all Ponsse employees,” says Juha Inberg, Ponsse’s Director of Technology and Product Development

The Red Dot design competition is one of the most prestigious design competitions in the world, with a history stretching back more than 60 years. Ponsse received the prestigious product design award for the second time now, when the previous generation Ponsse Scorpion harvester was awarded in the same category in 2015.
