How Briggs & Stratton is powering ELIET’s next generation of battery-powered shredders with Vanguard
ELIET is known for pushing boundaries within the shredder industry, from introducing the world’s first self-propelled shredder on wheels to developing tracked shredders for hard-to-reach terrain, the Belgian manufacturer has continued to redefine how professional landscapers operate.

One of ELIET’s key launches is the introduction of a self-propelled, battery- operated chipper and shredder. At the heart of this development is Vanguard, Briggs & Stratton’s commercial power solutions brand, providing the battery technology needed to deliver reliable, emission-free performance for demanding professional applications.
There are several ongoing challenges faced by landscaping professionals, including the significant amount of time and energy lost transporting garden trimmings to trailers or static chippers typically positioned in driveways or on the street. The solution was to develop a compact yet powerful shredder that could be moved directly to the waste and operate entirely on site. In many
cases, this allows the resulting woodchips to be reused within the garden itself, turning green waste into a valuable resource that returns nutrients back into the soil.

To deliver this vision, ELIET needed to adopt an electronic first approach. This shift required new skills, rapid learning and close collaboration with a power solutions partner that understood the demands of commercial equipment.
By working with Briggs & Stratton and its Vanguard commercial battery systems, ELIET was able to accelerate development and address challenges as they arose. The result is a machine designed to improve efficiency, reduce physical strain and support evolving emissions requirements across professional landscaping.

The electric chipper/shredder is powered by a 7kWh Vanguard fixed battery pack, delivering zero emissions at the point of use. Fully charged in eight hours, the system provides always-ready, instant-on power, while its compact design makes the machine easy to transport and manoeuvre on site.
Sjoerd van de Velde, Managing Director at Briggs & Stratton said: “Our aim is to deliver the right level of power for commercial applications. Vanguard, Briggs & Stratton’s commercial power solutions brand, is designed to meet changing emissions requirements while continuing to deliver reliable, long-lasting
performance.”

“Electric drive systems also bring clear practical benefits, including lower maintenance, quieter operation and easier control, helping operators work more efficiently both now and in the future.”
The Vanguard battery system used in ELIET’s latest chipper and shredder offers a straightforward and dependable power solution for professional users. It supports zero-emission operation at the point of use, reduces downtime and helps machines meet modern working requirements, while still delivering the
performance expected from commercial-grade equipment.
