Kronospan has completed its acquisition of ZG Timber’s Sebeș sawmill, formerly part of the Ziegler Group, securing more than 500 jobs and expanding its product offering in Romania.
Kronospan has completed its acquisition of ZG Timber’s Sebeș sawmill, a global manufacturer of wood-based panels and value-added wood products, has operated in Romania since 1998. It has invested more than €600m in the country and currently runs two production plants in Brașov and Sebeș, as well as a logistics centre in the Port of Constanța and several wood collection and recycling facilities.

The acquisition ensures the continuation of operations at the Sebeș site, preserving employment for the staff currently working there and sustaining a wider network of indirect jobs across suppliers, contractors, logistics partners and service providers.
With regulatory approvals in place, the sawmill will now be integrated into Kronospan’s Romanian operations. The company says the move underscores its long-term commitment to Romania and reflects confidence in the country’s industrial capabilities despite a challenging economic climate.
As part of its broader growth and diversification strategy, Kronospan will add sawn timber from the Sebeș facility to its product line. Its wood products are used domestically and exported to 75 countries across Asia, the Middle East and the Americas. The addition of sawn timber complements its existing production of particleboard (PB), medium-density fibreboard (MDF) and oriented strand board (OSB) in Sebeș and Brașov.
