Kuopio-based transport entrepreneur Kari Lähivaara receives the Good Type of Work Community scholarship at the national Forest Days

In connection with the national Forest Days held in Helsinki, the Metsämiehet Foundation’s “Good Type of Work Community” scholarship was awarded to Kari Lähivaara, a transport entrepreneur from Kuopio at Lähivaara Oy.

With the “Good Type of Work Community” scholarship, the Finnish Forest Men’s Foundation wants to highlight everyday work community heroes in the forest sector, as a competent and motivated person is the key success factor for the future of the forest industry and a builder of the industry’s operating culture.

The criteria for awarding the scholarship are:

• self-leadership (gets excited about everyday successes and encourages success, dares to stop and be present)
• takes responsibility (recognises their own and others’ opportunities, takes care of their colleagues, has a bold attitude towards new things)
• learns and guides (is responsibly curious and ready to develop, is inspired by the diversity of working life and the breadth of thinking)
• and maintains an honest and reliable spirit of a forester

The Foresters’ Foundation is a non-profit foundation established in 1948 with the task of developing the forest sector and promoting the well-being of people working in the sector. The Foundation distributes the return on its own investment activities to the sector through goal-oriented grants and scholarships.
