The Moipu Extreme feed rollers on a two-roller harvester are designed to maintain a secure grip on larger wood while carefully handling smaller trunks and branches. An overly aggressive grip may affect measurement accuracy, while a grip that is too gentle can cause slippage and increase the risk of trees falling.

When developing the Moipu Extreme two-wheel drive feed rollers, the goal was to combine these features in a single structure.
“In a wide roll, all the features affect each other. The roller should be firm but gentle at the same time. It must work on both small and large trees, and the measurement must also work reliably. In the development of the Extreme two-wheel drive rollers, we have found a solution where none of these features need to be compromised,” says Petrus Moisio.
The tine structure adapts to the size of the tree
The patented tine design of the Extreme rollers has been developed specifically for the needs of wide feed rollers. The new protected features of the structure are Adaptive Grip and Directional Grip.
Adaptive Grip changes the action of the tines according to the size of the tree. The Directional Grip, on the other hand, allows the roller to support the structure while allowing the wood to slide in a controlled manner against the bottom of the harvester head.
According to the company, during the test periods, it has been possible to reduce the pressure of both the feed rollers and the blades while improving the feed properties. Lower pressures can reduce the machine’s energy consumption and stress on the wood, as well as improve measurement accuracy.
Extreme rollers have been developed in cooperation with customers for several harvester head models. The first versions are already in production. The roller is patented, and its new structural improvements are protected by a utility model.
At the recent FinnMETKO event, the innovative JIB 18 and Extender 1900 extension booms were showcased, specifically designed to enhance excavators for forestry harvesting tasks. This advanced solution gives excavator contractors a unique opportunity to maximise the potential of their existing machinery by enabling forestry applications, ultimately boosting year-round operational efficiency.
The Moipu JIB 18 is a fixed extension boom for excavators up to 18 tonnes. The Extender 1900 is a hydraulically telescopic extension boom that increases the machine’s reach by up to 1.9 meters.
Both booms allow you to hang the harvester head. Moipu’s selection includes several harvester heads suitable for excavator use with extension booms, but you can also use the booms to install harvester heads from other manufacturers.
