Anyone interested in a forestry trip to Finland and possibly Sweden to visit some of the leading equipment manufacturers, and site visits to timber hauliers and forestry contractors.
A few years ago I helped with arranging some forestry visits for the Director of The Finnish Association of Forest Industry Road Carriers, and his fellow hauliers, who were on a whistlestop tour of Scotland.
They had a fantastic time and would like to repay the favour by arranging site and factory visits in Finland and Sweden for a group of us from the UK.
At the moment I have no idea on costs until I get a rough number of the people who would like to attend this once in a lifetime trip.
Some of the visits could include seeing the Ponsse factory, Volvo chassis factory, Mantsinen’s Material Handling operations, Alucar Factory, John Deere factory, Logset factory and a ferry over to Sweden to see the new Komatsu factory.
There would be site visits arranged to see both forestry and timber haulage operations.
We are looking at November or December of this year and probably over a period of five to seven days.
Once we have a firm date, numbers and cost we could all meet up at Helsinki Airport so that you can arrange your own flight from your nearest airport. The rest of the trip and accommodation will be arranged for you until our return flight home.
Apologies for being a bit vague on dates and cost but it will depend on the number of people and availability who would like to attend
I have been fortunate to visit both Ponsse and Logset’s factories on separate occasions and both were amazing trips.
