German Sawmill Production Plummets

Industrial sawmill processing logs into stacked lumber and wooden palletsLogs move through automated machinery as freshly cut lumber is sorted and stacked inside a busy sawmill.A wide interior view of a large, modern sawmill shows logs moving along conveyor rollers toward cutting machinery in the foreground. Freshly milled boards travel on green conveyors and are stacked in organized piles throughout the spacious facility, alongside wooden pallets and bundled timber. Steel beams, overhead pipes, high windows, and warm industrial lighting define the warehouse-like setting, while a few workers appear near the machinery.

The production of softwood products at German sawmills has experienced a significant decline of 14%. This reduction highlights the challenges faced by the industry and reflects trends in demand and supply within the market.

German sawmill production of softwood products dropped nearly 14 per cent in the second quarter. Similarly, Finland and Canada have reported declines in production, while Swedish sawmills have scaled back output by 7 per cent so far this year.
