On the 11 December Ponsse celebrates the completion of their 20,000th forest machine, a Ponsse Bear harvester with a H8 harvesting head
“It is great that Ponsse 20,000th forest machine will go to Norway to a customer with whom we have had good and effective cooperation for a long time. The market in Norway is growing and this year will be another record year for us. The Bear harvester is an impressive forest machine and now even better when equipped with the new H8 harvester head. With this machine, we are strong even in Norway’s most demanding harvesting conditions,” says Carl-Henrik Hammar, CEO of Ponsse AB and Ponsse AS.
The entrepreneurs at Lågen Skogsdrift AS have decades of experience in harvesting
Lågen Skogsdrift AS is a company owned by two brothers, Harald and Gunnar Evju, located in Svarstad, southern Norway. Lågen Skogsdrift AS operates in the Lågen valley and parts of Vestfold, Telemark and Buskerud counties. Harald and Gunnar Evju operate in the forest every other week and rest every other week.
The brothers are long-term customers of Ponsse, and this is their eighth Ponsse forest machine. Harald bought his first Ponsse HS 15 harvester in 1996. He started working in forestry with a chainsaw already in 1978, and his first harvester was a Logman bought in 1993. In 2001, the brothers acquired their first forest machine together, a six-wheeled Ponsse Ergo equipped with an H73 harvester head.

– Thank you for your cooperation also on my part. We delivered our first Bear harvester to Harald and Gunnar in January 2008, and the machine we are handing over today is their fifth Bear harvester,” says Tom Sundy, Ponsse AS’s salesman in Southern and Western Norway.
“I think Harald is the person in Norway who has done the most logging during his career. So far, he has harvested between 1.1 and 1.2 million cubic metres of wood, Sundy continues.
Ponsse Bear – developed for demanding harvesting
The Ponnse Bear is the strongest harvester in the model series. A powerful motor, a robust crane, two powerful working pumps and a strong H8 harvester head make it an agile giant for large trees and forests. The new H8 harvester head is equipped with Active Speed, which takes efficiency and productivity to a whole new level, regardless of the diameter of the tree. The combination of the Bear and the H8 is a profitable solution for harvesting with low life cycle costs.
