Timbeter and Polish State Forests enter second stage of
nationwide digital timber measurement rollout

Following the success of the initial pilot phase, Timbeter, a global leader in AI-powered digital timber measurement, and Polish State Forests (PGL LP) have advanced to the second stage of implementing photo-optical timber measurement across the country. The large-scale rollout, backed by the Director General’s Order No. 92/2024, is
reshaping how timber resources are measured, verified, and managed in Poland’s public forests.

From Pilot to Nationwide Adoption
The first phase, launched in 2024, introduced Timbeter’s digital technology in 14 forest districts across the Piła and Poznań Regional Directorates, where it enabled accurate and efficient measurement of over 250,000 cubic meters of timber. Building on these results, the second phase now extends implementation to over 700 forest units nationwide, marking a major step toward full digitalization of forestry operations under Lasy Państwowe.
Photo-optical measurement—referred to as the reference method—uses smartphone imagery and AI-based analysis to calculate the volume of timber stacks. Data is automatically transferred to the State Forests’ Leśnik+ system, ensuring accuracy, traceability, and transparency across the entire value chain.
Demonstrated Results and Nationwide Adoption
According to official reports and field feedback from Lasy Państwowe, the introduction of Timbeter’s photo-optical technology has brought tangible, measurable benefits across Poland’s forestry operations. The system has significantly reduced the workload of foresters and technical staff by automating measurements and minimizing paperwork, while improving efficiency. Data capture and volume calculation now take just a fraction of the time previously required, and the use of photographic and geolocation data ensures transparency and fairness for contractors and timber buyers.

Integrated directly with the Leśnik+ system, the solution provides consistent, auditable records and supports fully
digital data management within the State Forests’ operations. With more than 700 forestry units now actively using the photo-optical method, the success of the initiative has led to widespread adoption across all 17 Regional
Directorates of Lasy Państwowe. The strongest engagement has been reported in the Szczecin, Piła, Poznań, Radom, and Katowice regions, reflecting the growing nationwide momentum toward digital measurement and data-driven forestry management.
Anna-Greta Tsahkna, CEO of Timbeter, said: “The expansion of this project confirms the real impact of digital transformation in forestry. Poland’s State Forests are
setting an example for modern, data-driven management that combines efficiency with environmental responsibility.”
Second Stage: Training, Scale-Up, and Innovation
The current rollout includes a comprehensive national training program for foresters, coordinators, and service
contractors, ensuring consistent and effective use of digital tools across all regions. Representatives of Lasy Państwowe have emphasized that the adoption of photo-optical measurement brings clear benefits to everyday
forest operations—improving accuracy, ensuring objective and repeatable results, reducing manual workload, and
increasing overall efficiency in the field.

Sergejs Tarasena, Marketing Manager at Timbeter, added:
“We’re proud to see measurable results – faster operations, transparent reporting, and strong engagement from field teams. The second stage proves that innovation in forestry is both practical and scalable.”
