National Tree Cover Expansion Survey Seeks Land Manager Views
A national survey has been launched to understand the views of land managers on different approaches to tree cover expansion choices.
The survey, being conducted by Reheat, builds on leading research by Forest Research and the University of Stirling that is starting to understand the factors that would influence decisions and trade-offs between different methods of increasing tree cover or expanding woodlands for land managers.
Land managers from a wide range of backgrounds are being invited to participate, they can be located in England, Scotland and Wales and operate in conservation, community, commercial and public sectors. There is also a prize draw for participants, including giveaways up to the value of £140.
The research forms part of the TreE PlaNat project, with data collected from the survey being fed back into UKRI’s (UK Research and Innovation) Treescape Programme to improve environmental, socio-economic and cultural understandings of the functions and services provided by UK treescapes. This in turn will inform future decisions on woodland expansion and improved safeguarding and management.
