North Faulds Woods For Sale
North Faulds Woods is an attractive and productive mid-rotation conifer forest with good volumes of maturing timber in a highly scenic location within Caithness.
DESCRIPTION
North Faulds Woods was originally established on former agricultural ground in the mid-1990s with a commercial timber crop consisting of an intimate mix of Sitka spruce and Lodgepole pine.
The forest has been maturing well over the last five years and will produce a good volume of timber when harvested, which can be expected in the next 10-15 years.
The use of Lodgepole as a nurse crop has allowed the spruce to develop nicely and should produce a good percentage of sawlogs when maturity is reached. Yield classes of the spruce are estimated to be in the region of 12-14.
The commercial element of the woodland is enhanced by a mosaic of well-designed open ground areas that lend themselves excellently for deer stalking and rough shooting. The woodland also benefits from a former ruin that, subject to consent, may lend itself for construction of a dwelling to enjoy the peaceful surrounding.
