Regretfully, we need to cancel The World Crane Championship (WCC) 2020 including local qualification rounds. It is not a decision we have taken lightly, but in the interest of containing the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) and the health of contestants, spectators and our own people it is the right thing to do.

The rapid spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) makes it doubtful that we would be able to host the local qualifiers in all countries. This creates a new problem as the qualification track used in the local competitions would have been identical to the track used in the final at IAA 2020 in Hannover. If we hosted qualifiers in some countries and found another way to qualify contestants from other countries, this would have given an unfair advantage to some operators. The IAA 2020 show itself is at the moment of writing still planned to go ahead.

We will now start planning for WCC 2022. Please follow the World Crane Championship on Facebook or visit the webpage to stay updated.

The coronavirus (COVID-19) has presented us with unprecedented challenges. Hiab would like to express our gratitude to all drivers and crane operators who keep everyday moving in these difficult times. Vital logistics simply can not stop. Thank you for your effort and thank you for choosing Hiab.

Hope you all stay safe and see you in 2022!
