About Forest Machine Magazine-Forestry News

Forest Machine Magazine is a dedicated online hub for forestry news that keeps you updated with the latest information covering all aspects of forestry.

We feature current forestry news, the latest equipment, and interesting stories about the people and companies involved in ground preparation, road building and maintenance, planting, thinning, harvesting, extraction, timber haulage, sawmilling, and wood processing.

Our editor, Rab Easton, is a second-generation forestry professional with nearly 50 years of hands-on experience. He has worked on harvesting contracts throughout the UK, Ireland, Germany, and the USA. He began his career as a chainsaw operator with the Forestry Commission, where he earned his forester qualifications but chose to pursue timber harvesting instead of management. He also qualified as a Forest Machine Operator Instructor, training the next generation of operators at Barony College in Parkgate, near Dumfries.

Being a part of the forest industry and being known by the people and contractors within it has been a huge asset to Forest Machine Magazine, as it has opened doors that remain closed to others.

In the nine years since its establishment, Forest Machine Magazine has built a network of highly experienced operators who provide reliable feedback when trialling equipment and accessories in real conditions.

Rab’s wife, Wendy, was initially a tree surgeon who worked at Canterbury Cathedral before transitioning to horticulture and specialising in plant propagation. She has played an instrumental role in Forest Machine Magazine, managing client relationships, photography, graphic design, and maintaining the website.

We made the decision this year for the website, monthly newsletter and our social media pages to be our sole outlets for information about current events, equipment, and features, allowing us to publish instantly rather than adhering to deadlines

Written by loggers for loggers, forestry is not just a job but a way of life.
