Forestry Intern – Czernin-Kinsky Scottish Company Ltd – Cornharrow Estate, Dalry, DG7 3UG
This is a 6-month placement that provides an excellent opportunity to learn modern forestry practices and gain valuable skills in the industry. This Forestry internship position will provide general support to Forest Management staff in their everyday duties, this will likely include but not be limited to:
- Supporting harvesting operations by delivering parts & consumables, measuring timber stocks, helping with machine moves, collecting/processing and distributing firewood
- Supporting planting & restocking operations by planting or distributing trees on site & collecting empty bags from recently planted sites
- Carrying out forest maintenance operations: working with in-house or contract teams carrying out manual forest maintenance works
- Shadowing deer management operations, this will involve working unsociable hours for a spell
- Shadowing the Forest manager/assistant forest manager in day to day estate management
PERSON SPECIFICATION
- Full UK driving licence, ideally with experience of towing trailers but training can be provided
- Practical can-do attitude – a problem solver, not problem finder
- Experience of and desire to work outdoors
- Comfortable working alone or as a part of a small team
- You are keen to learn as much as possible from Czernin-Kisky staff and partners
Provisional period of employment: 1st October 2022- 31st March 2023
