New Conservator for Grampian

Scottish Forestry has appointed Steven Hutcheon as the new Conservator for the Grampian region.

In his new role, he will be leading the Grampian Conservancy team, implementing key woodland creation policies and forestry regulations.

Steven previously worked for Highlands and Islands Enterprise in a variety of roles and for International Paper in their operations team.

On joining Scottish Forestry, he said: “With climate change and nature loss being our two main global threats, our woodlands and forests have never been so important.

“The recent storms have been a painful reminder of the force of nature. Right now we are very focussed in helping woodland owners in the north east recover and collectively plan a way forward.

“I’m really looking forward to meeting new stakeholders so that we can work together and build stronger relationships.”

Steven’s public and private experience brings strong skills in strategic planning, business support and community growth.

He has lived all his life in the Grampian area and is actively involved in a number of community groups.
