Gordons Construction Equipment is excited to announce the grand opening of its new depot in Blairgowrie, marking a significant expansion of their operations. This state-of-the-art facility will serve as a hub for top-quality construction equipment and services, better supporting the needs of local contractors and builders in the region.
Gordons Construction Equipment officially opened its seventh depot, in Blairgowrie, Perthshire, last week. This is the family-owned business’ first construction-only site and marks the next milestone in its expansion announced earlier this year, which saw Gordons add Dieci and Bomag to its existing exclusive Develon dealership for Scotland.

At an open day to celebrate, trade visitors, local businesses and the community had the chance to see the newly developed premises and a wide range of Develon, Dieci and Bomag equipment firsthand – with a barbecue, digger challenge and chance to test their skills on the machinery simulator.
The day also celebrated Gordons’ sponsorship of the local rugby team and the sale of an iconic Doddie Weir liveried Develon loading shovel.
Although Gordons has been developing its construction arm since 2017, this is its first dedicated construction site and the first depot in the East of Scotland, where they have created an extensive parts department, workshop and impressive forecourt. Blairgowrie was selected for the depot due to its good access to both the A9 to Inverness and the A90 to Aberdeen and Edinburgh.
“We have been working towards this development for a long time, so it was fantastic to open the doors to customers, friends and the community to celebrate with us,” said Kevin Fraser, one of four Directors of Gordons Construction Equipment and the lead at the Blairgowrie depot.
“Having all three brands together really brought home what this depot means for our customers in the East and North of Scotland. They really appreciated seeing the full range of digging, material handling, lifting and compaction equipment in one place. Having a base in this area is also making a big difference for our mechanics and the speed of the after-sales service we can now give to customers in this region.”
The Blairgowrie depot offers plant machinery for a wide range of businesses and projects, including construction contractors, landscapers, joiners, waste handling, forestry and peatland restoration, as well as farmers looking for diggers, telehandlers and other equipment for agricultural projects and land management.
Bomag specialises in compaction equipment including road rollers, planers and recyclers, while Dieci offers a range of tele and rotation handlers, which complements Develon’s range of excavation equipment.
“I enjoy working with Gordons; it’s a great firm to deal with at all depots with a really good family feel,” said Jim Barlow, Northern Territory Manager at Dieci Telehandlers. “Their quality of product and approach to customer care make them a natural fit for the Dieci brand, and it’s great to see that reflected in a depot like Blairgowrie. It’s exactly the kind of investment that shows they’re in it for the long term for us and for their customers.”
The Blairgowrie Rugby Club came along to try their hand at the different challenges. Gordons is sponsoring the club for the coming season as part of the business’ growing ties with the local community.
Among the day’s highlights was the handover of a Doddie Weir-liveried loading shovel, which the Gordons team has taken to the trade shows over the summer to raise money for the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation. The machine’s tour raised £1288 for the charity founded by the late Scotland rugby legend to fund research into motor neurone disease and has been sold to a Fife-based haulage company and supplier of aggregates, PJM Services.
“It felt fitting to bring the loading shovels’ season to a close here at Blairgowrie,” said Kevin, who has played a major role in developing the construction side of the business. “It’s a cause that means a great deal across rural and rugby communities in and beyond Scotland and it was nice to bring business, sport and charity together on the same day that we officially opened our doors.”
Gordons Construction Equipment, which has 35 dedicated construction employees and a turnover of £27m, will continue to build its presence across central and northern Scotland from the new site, offering parts, service and engineer support alongside sales of new and used plant equipment.
