Wood-Mizer expands its industrial product range with the HR250 Twin-Head Horizontal Resaw, a compact, high-performance machine developed for pallet manufacturers and lumber producers

Wood-Mizer expands its industrial product range with the HR250 Twin-Head Horizontal Resaw, a compact, high-performance machine developed for pallet manufacturers and lumber producers seeking greater productivity, consistent cutting quality, and lower operating costs. Designed primarily for pallet board production, the HR250 is also suitable for structural lumber and processing wood species with high internal stresses.

The HR250 combines a twin-head cutting system with a simplified, maintenance-friendly design developed with input from industrial customers. Two vertically arranged cutting heads produce two boards simultaneously from a cant or flitch, helping maximize throughput while maintaining dimensional accuracy.

“Markets continue to evolve, and manufacturers are looking for equipment that delivers higher efficiency, reliability, and lower operating costs,” says Adam Kubiak, Industrial Sales Manager at Wood-Mizer. “The HR250 was developed to meet these expectations while remaining simple to operate and maintain.”

Power and Precision Combined

Each cutting head is powered by an independent electric motor, available in 5.5 kW, 7.5 kW, 11 kW, or 15 kW configurations. Dynamically balanced 710 mm steel band wheels ensure smooth operation with minimal vibration, extending blade life and reducing component wear.

A hydraulic-electric blade tensioning system maintains precise blade tension throughout operation, ensuring reliable performance and accurate cutting. The HR250 is designed for intensive daily production while keeping maintenance requirements low.

Optimized for Performance and Ease of Operation

A compressed-air mist lubrication system continuously cleans and lubricates the blades, improving cut quality and extending blade life. The HR250 features independent head height adjustment, an optional Setworks system for fast thickness settings, and a control panel that can be mounted on either side of the machine.

Standard hold-down rollers stabilize material during cutting, while optional powered double hold-down rollers increase production throughput by allowing two narrow cants to be processed simultaneously.

Proven in Real Production Environments

Before its market launch, the HR250 underwent extensive field testing at pallet manufacturing facilities operating under demanding production conditions. Early users confirmed the machine’s ability to improve production continuity, maintain consistent cutting quality, and reduce downtime.

“The HR250 has helped us reduce downtime and improve production continuity. Because the blades don’t break as often, we spend less time changing them, and the cutting quality is much better. We’ve been able to run the blades for almost eight hours, which gives us excellent efficiency,” says Ryszard Górecki from Paldrex, a pallet manufacturing company in Poland.

Designed for Modern Wood Processing Operations

The HR250 was developed with direct input from industrial wood-processing customers. During both the design and testing phases, Wood-Mizer engineers worked closely with pallet manufacturers to ensure the machine met the practical requirements of modern production environments.

Delivered on a single pallet and designed for easy transport and installation, the HR250 can be quickly integrated into a wide range of production lines
