In this newly created position, he will work closely with customers across the UK, helping them identify the right lifting solutions for their operations while driving the continued growth of Hiab’s forestry and recycling business.

A Mechanical Engineering graduate, Michael began his career in the hydraulics industry before gaining experience as a workshop manager, providing him with a strong understanding of both the technical and operational challenges faced by customers. Since joining Hiab as an Application Engineer, he has developed extensive knowledge of the company’s products and applications, making him well placed to support customers in his new role.

“I’m excited because this role combines the aspects of my career that I enjoy most: working with customers, solving technical challenges and applying my engineering knowledge to real-world applications,” said Michael Kelly. “I’m looking forward to building relationships with customers across the forestry and recycling sectors, expanding my industry knowledge and helping businesses find the right solutions for their operations.”

Hiab’s portfolio of forestry and recycling solutions is backed by nationwide service, digital solutions and expert technical support, helping customers improve productivity, maximise uptime and operate safely in demanding environments.

Michael believes there are significant opportunities in both sectors as businesses continue investing in safer, more efficient and sustainable equipment.

“Customers are looking for equipment that offers long-term reliability, lower operating costs and excellent support, and that’s where Hiab can really add value,” he said. “Technologies such as HiConnect, advanced crane control systems and remote diagnostics are helping customers maximise uptime, improve safety and get more from every machine.”

Max Thiele, VP Sales & Business Development, Lifting Solutions said, “The creation of this dedicated role reflects Hiab UK’s commitment to strengthening our presence in the forestry and recycling sectors. These are specialist industries with unique operational challenges, and our customers increasingly value expert support alongside high-performance equipment. Michael’s technical background and experience within Hiab make him ideally placed to help customers identify the right solutions while supporting our continued growth in these important markets.”

Marcel Boxem, VP Forestry and Recycling added, “Forestry and recycling remain strategically important markets for Hiab, with growing demand for solutions that improve safety, productivity and sustainability. By creating this role, we’re investing in dedicated expertise that allows us to work even more closely with customers, understand their evolving needs and continue delivering innovative lifting solutions backed by market-leading service and support.”

As both industries continue to evolve, customers are increasingly focused on reducing downtime, improving operator safety and maximising the lifetime value of their equipment. Michael will work closely with customers to understand these challenges and ensure they have access to the right products, digital solutions and aftersales support to keep their operations running efficiently.
